Trimming

Trimming is the process of cutting a document down to its finished size. Commercial printing presses cannot print to the very edge of a sheet of paper. In order to achieve this effect, your design is usually printed onto a larger piece of paper. The white, unprinted border is subsequently trimmed off using a guillotine. Please provide crop marks around all your supplied artwork. Please provide crop marks around all artwork supplied.

Remember

Please ensure that you only send one version of your art work as this may cause confusion and delay the estimated turnaround time, we want to ensure you receive your products as soon as you can. If the wrong file is sent over, please notify us by email immediately.

Illustrator

Include all embedded images and outline all fonts before saving as a PDF for print.

Artwork Bleed

It is essential that there is a minimum 3mm bleed around your artwork. This is for cutting purposes. For example: A6 size would be 111mm x 154.50mm. Save your artwork as any of the above formats. Please note that there is a 2mm tolerance for cutting on all jobs.

Please ensure that the colour is set to CMYK not RGB.

Wirebound Brochures

Please allow a 10mm allowance on the edge of the artwork that will be wirebound. Failure to do so may lead to some of the artwork being "chopped off" and obscured by the wires.

Preparation Tips for Lettering and Living Logos

It is important to follow the guidelines to achieve the best results for your lettering and living logos.
Lettering: Please provide us with a vector cutting file with a 0.2pt red line. Minimum thickness to die cut is 5mm, we reserve the right to block your files if the 5mm area needs to bear too much weight, in which case the thickness needs to be increased.

Living Logos: The cutting and the milling are two industrial processes carried out using a single drill bit tool. The cutter has a diameter of 8mm.
Cutting - cutting edges of the PVC material.
Milling - hallowing the PVC material to vegetate the area.
  • For best results provide a vector file
  • Create the logo as an outline
  • Create a 5mm outline that will show the border images of the shape
  • Free space without vegetation must be at least 8mm wide
  • Provide at least 15mm location for the plant
  • If placing on walls provide 25mm so that spacers are not shown from the front

PDF Files

We request all our artwork to be supplied as high resolution (300dpi). It is important that you prepare your PDF file in the correct way. These options must be set for commercial printing:

  • Resolution - Choose High Resolution
  • Compression Settings - For colour and greyscale this should be down sampled to 300dpi with "auto compression" set on high
  • Font Embedding - Should be set to "embed all fonts"
Colour needs to be set as CMYK not RGB (RGB artwork will be converted to CMYK and this could affect your colours).

  • Word
  • Excel
  • Powerpoint
  • Publisher
